Splendour in the Grass

What though the radiance
which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass,
of glory in the flower,
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;
In the primal sympathy
Which having been must ever be;
In the soothing thoughts that spring
Out of human suffering;
In the faith that looks through death,
In years that bring the philosophic mind.

Class of '56 Supports the Adam Conboy Fund
"What has become our custom...we (Class of '56) are requesting a donation from our classmates and making a group donation from the St A’s Class of '56 to a worthy organization.  There are many worthy and needy ones to choose from and it is difficult to just pick one. This year our primary recipient will be “Operation Bedding – the Adam Conboy Memorial Fund”.  They are a local group and a lot can be said about them and what they do for our military -- much more than what we can put here in writing.

Visit the site:  http://www.adamconboymemorialfund.org/ and you will see all the good that they do.  If we receive enough donations we will also provide a donation to the Chaplin’s Office at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital – they provide a great service to the families of wounded troops".

Adam's Last Request:
In his last request Lance Corporal Adam C. Conboy, while serving in Iraq, requested "some basic supplies which included pillows. He said "whatever you send make sure it is in the amount of forty (soldiers)". He wanted to insure that his comrades have the same comforts that he did. He said "get Operation Bedding going Mom" That Friday Adam was killed. Without realizing it Adam had inspired his own Memorial Fund.

If you want to donate to the cause, please contact Rich Tancredi '56 for information. Rich can be reached at Classof56@comcast.net or  215-325-1837
Operation First Response
Joe and Mary Kane '56 have sent an expression of thanks to all of the 1956 classmates who donated to the "Walk for the wounded" on May 22nd in memory of their son: “Our family thanks all who contributed to our Son's walk-team (Team Joey) on Operation First Response's homepage. As you may know our Son was Killed in Iraq on October 14th, 2006. Ever since then we have been finding some solace in helping returned wounded solders and their family's deal with their physical tragedy."
